      General note

The earliest journal in our files is from 1872, which specifies it was the thirtieth annual session. There were 48 churches listed, and the conference boundaries embraced the entire State of Michigan. When the North Michigan Conference was created in 1888, the boundary of the Michigan Conference was confined to the southern portion of lower Michigan and a portion of northern Ohio. The Michigan Conference continued until the 1968 merger.
